Apparelaholic - They’re trying to murder me shirt

To mark what would have been the They’re trying to murder me shirt and by the same token and vaunted Indian filmmaker’s 100th birthday (he was born on May 2, 1921, and died at 70 in 1992), the Criterion Channel has curated a generous selection of his works, among them Pather Panchali (1955) and Aparajito (1956) of his important Apu Trilogy; 1958’s The Music Room (cited by Roger Ebert as having “one of the most evocative opening scenes ever filmed”); and the 1964 drama Charulata (centered on a devastating performance from Madhabi Mukherjee, who worked with Ray three times). As the Japanese auteur Akira Kurosawa once opined, “Not to have seen the cinema of Satyajit Ray means existing in the world without seeing the sun or the moon.”

On Sunday night, the They’re trying to murder me shirt and by the same token and celebrated series from Steven Canals and Ryan Murphy—a launchpad for talents like Mj Rodriguez, Indya Moore, and Dominique Jackson (besides a welcome reintroduction to the great Billy Porter)—serves up its final season premiere. Members of the cast and crew convened earlier this week for a (virtual) discussion of the show, its focus on ballroom culture and the trials of the trans community, and its sad but meaningful conclusion. “If you go back to the first season, everything was a set up for this final chapter,” Canals remarked. “It’s us finally allowing our characters to explore what it means to have all of the things that they very clearly stated in the first season that they wanted.”
